About this game

2048

2048 is the viral tile-merging puzzle. Slide matching numbers together on a 4x4 grid, double them up, and try to create the 2048 tile before the board fills up and locks you out of any legal move.

The original concept, created by Gabriele Cirulli in 2014 and released open source, has since been rebuilt on countless sites. This version keeps the classic ruleset intact, ad-free, and part of a larger free games collection rather than a single-purpose clone.

How to play

  1. Use arrow keys or swipe to slide all tiles in one direction.
  2. Matching tiles that collide merge into one, doubling their value.
  3. A new tile appears after each move.
  4. Reach the 2048 tile to win, or keep going for a higher score.

Tips and strategy

  • Keep your highest-value tile locked in a corner and build the rest of the board around it rather than moving it around.
  • Avoid moving in all four directions randomly, stick to two primary directions as your main strategy to keep the board organized.
  • Don't rush merges just for the sake of it, an empty board with organized tiles beats a full board with scattered small values.

What you get

  • Animated tile slides
  • Keyboard and swipe controls
  • Win and keep-going modes
  • Best score tracking
