Who we are
This privacy policy applies to I Am Bored at https://www.iambored.blog ("we", "us", "our"). The site is operated as a small independent leisure project: articles and web toys for people who are bored.

Information we collect
We do not require an account to browse. Depending on how you use the site, these categories may apply:
- Server and security logs: Our host (Vercel) may record IP address, browser type, requested pages, timestamps, and similar technical data to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and diagnose errors.
- Browser storage: Some homepage toys and games save scores, timers, or preferences in sessionStorage or localStorage on your device. That data normally never leaves your browser unless you clear it.
- Email you send us: If you contact us, we receive what you choose to include (name, email address, message body, links, attachments). If we publish a guest blog article you pitched, the byline name or handle you requested may appear publicly on that article page.
- Blog forms: The save-for-later jar on our blog page emails us your address so we can notify you about new posts. When Google Sheet logging is enabled, that same signup is also stored in a private spreadsheet we control. Only submit an email if you want us to use it for that purpose. The mood board emails us your note (and optional reply address) but is not written to the spreadsheet.
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate traffic (pages viewed, approximate region, device type). Google may set cookies or use similar identifiers. We do not use Analytics to sell personal information.
- Advertising (when enabled): If we add Google AdSense or similar programs, ad partners may use cookies or identifiers. We will disclose that here first and follow applicable consent rules.
How we use information
We use the information above to operate, secure, and improve the website; respond to messages you send; understand which articles and games people enjoy in aggregate; and comply with law when required.
For guest blog contributors, we use your pitch and correspondence to review submissions, publish accepted articles with your chosen byline, and reply about editorial decisions. We do not pay for guest posts at the moment; we do not use contributor pitches for unrelated marketing.
We do not use your email for unrelated marketing unless you explicitly ask to hear from us. We do not build profiles to sell to data brokers.

- Answer bug reports, pitches, and partnership notes
- Measure content quality with aggregated analytics
- Protect the site from spam, scraping abuse, and attacks
Third-party services
We rely on vendors to host and deliver the site. Each has its own privacy policy and may process data on our behalf:
- Vercel for hosting and delivery
- Google Fonts for typography (requests may go to Google servers)
- Google Analytics 4 (aggregate usage measurement)
- Google AdSense or similar ad networks when enabled (disclosed here first)
We choose vendors with reasonable security practices but cannot control their independent compliance programs. Review their policies if you need vendor-specific details.
Games and local storage
Many playground features are designed to work without a login. Scores, idle timers, scratch-card progress, and similar state may live only in your browser.
Clearing site data, using private browsing, or switching devices usually resets that progress. We generally cannot recover scores that were never stored on our servers.
If a future game adds optional accounts or cloud saves, we will explain what is stored and where before you opt in.
Children
The site is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through account registration because we do not offer accounts at launch.
If you believe a child emailed us personal information, contact us with details and we will delete the correspondence where appropriate.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing. Practical steps on this site include:
- Clear browser storage to reset local game data and timers
- Adjust cookie settings in your browser or OS
- Email us to ask what we retain from a message you sent
- Ask us to delete email correspondence you previously sent us
- Ask us to remove your email from blog save-for-later or mood board messages
- Use Do Not Track or similar signals where our analytics honor them (we will document behavior when analytics launches)
Data retention
How long we keep information depends on what it is:
- Server and security logs from our hosting provider are typically retained for a limited period for security and abuse prevention, then rotated out automatically.
- Email correspondence sent to iamboredblog5@gmail.com is kept as long as reasonably needed to resolve your question or maintain a record of guest post agreements, and can be deleted on request as described above.
- Browser storage for games and playground features lives entirely on your device and is never sent to us, so we have no retention period for it because we never receive it.
- If a mailing list or save-for-later feature holds your email in our inbox records, that entry is kept until you ask to be removed or until the associated feature is discontinued.
International visitors
The site is published in English and hosted through global infrastructure. If you visit from outside the country where we operate, your data may be processed in other regions where our vendors maintain servers.
We aim to apply the practices described here regardless of location. If a local law grants you additional rights, email us and we will respond in good faith.
Legal basis and applicable law
This policy is written to align with general privacy principles reflected in regulations such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), to the extent they apply to visitors from those regions. We do not currently operate a dedicated compliance program for every regional privacy law worldwide. If you are a visitor in a jurisdiction with specific statutory rights not otherwise addressed here, contact us and we will respond in good faith and address the request as best we can as a small independent site.

We may update this policy as we add blog posts, games, analytics, or advertising. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

01 Does I Am Bored sell my personal information?
No. Personal information collected through this site, such as an email address you send us, is never sold to third parties or data brokers.
02 Do you use cookies?
Currently, only essential cookies used by our hosting and content delivery provider for security and performance. Analytics or advertising cookies are not active yet and will be disclosed here before they go live.
03 Can I ask you to delete my data?
Yes. Email iamboredblog5@gmail.com with the address you used to contact us and specify what you want deleted, such as a prior message or an email list entry, and it will be handled within a reasonable timeframe.
04 Do you track me across other websites?
Not currently. There is no advertising pixel or cross-site tracking active on the site today. If an ad network is added later, that will be disclosed in this policy before it goes live, along with any opt-out available.
05 Is my game score or progress being sent to your servers?
No. Most game scores, timers, and playground progress are stored only in your browser local or session storage and are never transmitted to us, which also means we cannot recover that data if it gets cleared.
06 Do you collect information from children?
The site does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, since there is no account system at launch. If a child has emailed personal information to us, contact us and we will delete the correspondence.
07 What happens if you start using Google Analytics or ads?
This policy will be updated first, with the "Last updated" date changed, and the relevant sections above will describe exactly what data is collected and how to opt out, before the feature is turned on, not after.
08 How do I stop cookies or clear stored data myself?
Use your browser or device settings to block cookies or clear site data at any time. Clearing site data will also reset any local game scores or preferences stored on your device.
