Never Have I Ever survives every generation of game night for one simple reason: it doesn’t need cards, a board, or a single prop, just a group of people willing to be honest about the things they’d normally never bring up. The tricky part is never the game itself, it’s having enough good questions ready before the energy dips. This list solves that: 150 questions sorted by exactly who you’re playing with, so you’re never scrambling for your next one mid round.
Prefer to skip the scrolling and just start playing? Our Never Have I Ever game has 1,000 prompts already sorted into categories, tracks everyone’s answers automatically, and works whether you’re all in one room or on a shared screen call. No login, and unlike a lot of online versions of this game, it stays genuinely all-audience friendly by default rather than defaulting straight to a drinking game.
How to Play Never Have I Ever (Quick Refresher)
If it’s been a while, here’s the whole rulebook in four steps:
- Everyone starts with ten fingers up (or a drink in hand, if that’s your version).
- One person reads a statement out loud, starting with “Never have I ever…”
- Anyone who has done that thing puts a finger down (or takes a sip).
- Play continues around the group. Whoever runs out of fingers first, or wants to bail out gracefully, can hand the next question to someone else.
There’s no real winner, and that’s the point. The game works because it turns “tell me something about yourself” into something people actually want to answer.
Tips for a Better Game
A few things separate a game that fizzles after five minutes from one that runs for an hour:
- Mix specific and general questions. “Never have I ever traveled alone” is fine. “Never have I ever gotten hopelessly lost on a solo trip and lied about it being on purpose” gets a story out of someone.
- Match the category to the room. A work happy hour and a college sleepover need very different question banks, which is exactly why this list is split by group below.
- Let the follow up happen. The best moment in any round isn’t the question, it’s the “wait, tell us more” that comes right after someone confesses.
- Have an escape hatch question ready. If the energy dips, a genuinely funny, low stakes question can reset the whole room.
Now, the questions, organized by exactly who you’re playing with.

More Ways to Keep the Night Going
If this list got your group in a confessional mood, our Life’s Little Checklist works as a great follow up game, it’s the same spirit of “how much have you actually done” but structured as a running life checklist instead of a round based game. And if the conversation drifts toward everything you still want to do, our ultimate bucket list has 200 more ideas to steal for your own list. For a lower key night in, our things to do when bored at home guide has 25 additional ideas that don’t require a group at all.
